Some other things i've read the Macmini doesnt handle to large montors as well, the MBP has a discrete card, which can drive bigger monitors (It can actually drive two of the new XDR monitors (not sure which config on graphics cards though. The MBP will perform better but how much better? Not sure, you could wait for some tests to come through. Thats' maxing out the processor on each unit, same 1tb drive and 32Gb or RAM. I think you can save a lot of money going the Mac mini route for example in Australia: Is the new MacBook Pro a lot more or less powerful than a top of the line current mini?Īnd what about the possibility of a new mini coming out next spring? Should I even worry about that? But I still like the extra ports, and lower price with the mini better. I decided I don’t like the Touch Bar MacBooks, but the new 16” came out and I’ve read a lot of good things. I’d probably max out the cpu in the mini and upgrade the RAM myself to 64gb right away. I’m ready to ditch the laptop and get a mini, with a nice big (cheap) monitor. But as soon as I start incorporating soft synths things get bad. I’m honestly impressed that it still chugs along so well, an 8 year old laptop. But I’m still having some latency issues, dropouts, my MacBook was the cheapest I could get at the time, base model. I’ve been getting by because I only record myself, I do relatively simple arrangements with fewer tracks, use an Apollo for the minimal plugs used, track through some outboard, freeze tracks. I want to finally upgrade my 2011 13” MacBook Pro.
